The Convenience of Comparison Websites

With the weather warming up, despite the recent barrage of rain in Manhattan, the travel bug has hit me. Granted, a cancelled Egypt trip back in February due to political unrest also got the travel juices flowing.
As my friends and I looked for a new destination, I quickly learned the value and convenience of comparison websites. After searching multiple separate travel sites i.e. Expedia, Priceline, and Orbiz not to mention American Express my eyes started to blind. I then discovered Kayak.com. I admit, I’m a little late to Kayak as two friends mentioned the site over dinner recently. In this case, not just the early bird gets the worm. I know have this website bookmarked in my favorites and have used it to plan two trips.
The convenience of Kayak.com to quickly comparison shop as well as modify my search selection got me thinking, why are there not more sites like this???
After further investigation I came up with my own Convenience List of Comparison Websites which includes the following:
- pricegrabber.com: I would classify this site as a great one stop shop for every living necessity short of your actual home. (I was about to type food & car, but they offer Grocery & Gourmet and sell auto parts as well). Additional key search categories include clothing, electronics, sporting goods and furniture.
- designerapparrel.com: For those of you who love to find clothing and accessories bargains, this site has all the top luxury brands (Cartier, Hermes, Prada) to more common household names including Rockport, Tommy Hilfiger and Levis.
- FindABetterBank.com: Enables you to enter your zip code and see checking and account options from local banks and credit unions. The site also contains helpful facts about Checking accounts to help you avoid banking and ATM fees.
- CreditCards.com: This site is an old favorite from my days working at American Express. With the Card market place constantly expanding, this site is tried and true as the location to research all your Card options and their associated interest and rewards/cash back programs.
There are many more sites of this sort. I look forward to discovering more of them and receiving email alerts from some of them.
