Email marketing remains the a primary method of communication for most consumers in 2013, even as social platforms grow in popularity, and brands are even budgeting for more email marketing programs this year. As more businesses send emails to the same target consumers, how can you make sure that your email stands out from the competition in the inbox? That’s where the subject line comes in; it’s the gatekeeper and primary factor in whether or not people open your email and see your messages.

Most of us give little thought to our subject lines, typing out a few words and hoping for the best. But in reality, writing an effective, catchy email subject line can be pretty challenging in and of itself. There’s really no such thing as the “perfect” subject line. But, with a little guidance, you can get your subject lines a little closer to perfection.
