The most successful super-distribution email campaigns (often called "viral marketing") offer something so unique that the message grabs your attention and impresses you so mightily that you can't help sharing it with friends and colleagues. That's what happened last week when we received an email from office.com.

The email (offering two free "astronaut" pens if we purchased $30 in office supplies from the site) included a 30-second ad, with streaming video and audio. (We were able to view and listen to it without a software plug-in because our computers are appropriately equipped.)
